The face-lifted Vitara is slated to be launched in Europe by the end of the year, with the Indian variant making its foray to the Indian market sometime in early-2019. The new Vitara flaunts a newly revised front facade with revamped radiator grille and new sleeker headlamps.

The tails lamps have also received an update. Besides, car-lovers will also be impressed by a distinctive metallic chrome radiator grille, ew fog lamps, LED DRLs, a blacked out B pillar and a tinted rear windshield. With a length of 4.2 metres, the updated Maruti Vitara comes with wheel arches that now sport plastic black cladding and the Vitara sits on new alloy wheels.

Already on sale in international markets, the Vitara is positioned right above the S-Cross in the Suzuki vehicle portfolio. Under the hood, it offers a choice of both petrol and diesel engines. It is powered by a 1.6 litre, 4-cylinder petrol which generates 118bhp and 156Nm of torque. The diesel variant is powered by a 1.6 litre engine which churns out 118bhp and 320Nm of peak power. The power-train is mated to a 5-speed or a 6-speed manual transmission, or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. You can also go for an AWD if you want.

The new Vitara also promises the option of new turbocharged petrol and a diesel option, which are 1.0 litre and a 1.4 litre respectively. The petrol churns out 111bhp while the diesel variant generates 140bhp. What’s more, the top-spec variants will also be accompanied by Suzuki’s AWD AllGrip. As far as gearboxes are concerned, car-buyers can expect manual as well as automatic transmission. Coming to safety equipment the SUV is expected to get anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution and dual front airbags as standard across model series.

Chances of it being mistaken for the new Brezza are high, but the Vitara is a 4.2 meter long SUV while on the other hand, the Brezza falls under the compact SUV category which means it will be less than 4 metres. The market is abuzz with speculations as to how this new offering will fare in terms of sale and popularity.

Since the SUV will not fall in Maruti’s premium line-up, it will be competitively priced and will be retailed from the regular Maruti outlets instead of Nexa. Once launched, it is likely to give the likes of the Hyundai Cretan and the Nissan Kicks (which is soon to be launched) a run for their money. If reports are to be believed, the new Maruti Suzuki Vitara comes only in two metallic shades: Solar Yellow Pearl Metallic and Grey Metallic.
