The new 10th generation Honda Civic has recently launched in the Indian market and comes packed with features and compelling design.
The Civic will be given a tough fight in its segment by the likes of the Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Corolla Altis which are acclaimed and heavyweight D-segment luxury sedans. Here’s looking at the key rivals to the new Honda Civic in India-
Having got a mid-life facelift in July last year, the Octavia remains a predominant player in this segment. The facelift brought in new split headlights along with slight changes for the front bumper, bonnet and alloy wheel design in tandem with a new lightning signature effect for the tail lights. The interiors have a new 8 inch touch screen unit now along with ambient lighting in 10 colours, additional USB ports positioned beneath the air conditioning vents and a brand new steering wheel.
The current-gen Elantra arrived in August 2016 and sports the Fluidic 2.0 design theme from Hyundai. It makes use of a bold and arresting design to entice buyers along with offering features like ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, an engine start/stop button, highly advanced 8.0 inch HD touch screen infotainment unit, rear air conditioning vents, AVN (audio video navigation), electric sunroof and a rearview camera. A mid-life facelift for the Elantra is expected this year and it will continue to be a potent rival to the new Civic in the segment.
Toyota Corolla Altis
The present generation Corolla Altis came with a set of new upgrades back in March last year. These include design and feature tweaks although the mechanicals was unchanged. The car got a new front design with chrome treatment for the upper grille and the radiator grille was made wider along with being positioned on the bumper. There were new LED headlights with DRLs (daytime running lights) and brand new LED cluster tail lights as well.
The Toyota Corolla Altis gets the brand new Touch 2 system and navigation along with a reclining rear seat which is a unique feature in this segment along with a 4.2 inch multi-information display and circular air conditioning vents and top class upholstery. The Toyota Corolla Altis continues to be a highly popular car in its class and will definitely be a big rival to the new Honda Civic.
