The upcoming Jeep C-SUV, to be called ‘Compass’ features Jeep’s trademark grille with sleek headlamps on either side. It gets dual tone paint job. Other highlights of the front end are a sculpted hood and chrome appliqué near the lower end of the bumper. At the back it gets split tail lamps with LED detailing. The neat-looking cabin finished in black and grey has been inspired by the Grand Cherokee. The list of features include a UConnect touch-screen infotainment system, a TFT screen that can be configured to show instrument cluster, keyless entry, start-stop button and a 9 speaker audio system from Beats Audio.
In India, it is expected to rival the likes of the upcoming Hyundai Tucson, and entry level variants of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. India will get the new Compass with a 2.0 L Multijet diesel. The engine is likely to churn out around 170 bhp of max power and about 350Nm of peak torque. According to estimates, it will deliver a mileage of around 15-16 kmpl, with the city mileage being around Rs. 11-12 kmpl, and that in highway being roughly 14-17 kmpl.
Skoda Kodiaq 7-seater SUV, which will come to India in late-2017, represents a design full of character, extraordinary space, practical intelligence, and innovative technology. It will come with a choice of 5 engine options ranging from 1.4 litre to 2.0 litre with power figures between 123bhp and 189bhp. Both the petrol diesel power-trains will be boosted with turbocharged direct injection system, and will be compatible with Euro-6.
All the variants will come equipped with engine start-stop system, thermo-management system and brake energy recovery, that will enable it to return optimum fuel efficiency. Skoda’s 30 Clever features such as heated steering wheel, electric child safety, etc. will also be offered. Expected to be priced within the range of Rs. 28-35 lakhs, this SUV will boast of design features such as sleek LED Headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, company’s signature grille, flush-mounted door handles, angular LED tail-lights, tailgate spoiler, twin exhaust system, etc. The interior will also host an ultra-minimalist dashboard with a digital instrument cluster. The inside of the car will welcome you with an infotainment system, touch-screen controls, and a digital centre stack.
Volkswagen Tiguan, the much-awaited luxury SUV from the German manufacturer is all geared up for its big launch in India in 2017. It will be powered by Volkswagen’s new 2.0 litre TDI diesel engine that is capable of churning out a maximum of 147bhp. The 1968cc turbocharged motor will come mated to the company’s tried and tested 7-speed DSG automatic unit. It will boast of features like 5-inch screen or a bigger 8 inch display (depending on the variant) along with support navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, MirrorLink, and many others.
The safety features include, front assist with city emergency braking and pedestrian monitoring, automatic post-collision braking system and the lane assist, etc. It will cost around Rs. 30 lakhs in India, and will deliver a mileage of 12-13 kmpl in city, and 18-19 kmpl on highway. Though its styling is not very attractive, this smart looking SUV gets a chrome grille that flows neatly into the headlamps. Tiguan flaunts all-LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights. Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Nissan X-Trail and Skoda Kodiaq will be its topmost rivals.
