Take a Sneak Peek into the Upcoming SUVs in India
The New Nissan X-Trail Hybrid is slated to arrive in India early next year. With great off-road capabilities and several new features, it will come within the range of Rs. 32-35 lakhs. Expected to come with a diesel powertrain, it will be powered by a 2.0 litre petrol engine coupled with an electric motor. This power unit will produce a combined power output of 179bhp and 207Nm of torque. This hybrid motor will be mated to a CVT gearbox. The exterior has ditched the conventional and boxy design, and will feature a leaner and curvier silhouette. Upfront, this car, inspired from Nissan’s global models, will get a chromed grille, body-coloured bumper, halogen headlights with manual leveling, LED daytime running lights and mud-flap. On the interior, it will be equipped with black and beige highlights with piano-black finish on the centre console, a 5 inch coloured LCD QVGA display, 6-speaker audio system with Aux, USB and iPod connectivity as well as several other comfort and safety equipments. It will deliver an expected mileage of 10-12kmpl. It is likely to face competition from the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Santa Fe and others in this category.
Upcoming SUVs in India
Honda CR-V SUV, expected to make its official debut in 2017, gets all-new trapezoidal grille, LED headlamps and L-shaped LED tail lamps as well as single slat chrome grille and a heavy front bumper. Additionally, the next generation Honda CR-V will now flaunt a bigger spoiler, new rear bumper, roof rails and sportier allow wheels to enhance the overall appearance of the SUV. Coming to the interiors, this car has its gear selector mounted on the centre console.
The crossover also gets a redesigned multi-function steering wheel, digital instrument cluster, 7 inch touch—screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Andrioid Auto connectivity, etc. The fifth generation Honda CR-V is expected to borrow a 1.5 litre Turboengine from the Civic while the top end variants are likely to be offered with 2.0L Turbo as well as 2.4L VTEC engine. The model to be launched in India is likely to get a CVT unit in spite of 5 speed automatic unit as seen on the current generation. Expected to fall within the price bracket of Rs. 22-25 lakhs (ex-showroom), it will rival the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Ford Endeavour.
The Mahindra Bolero Power, to enter the Indian markets in 2017, does not get any noteworthy changes as far as its styling is concerned. However, the front bumper wears a slightly different look, while the stickers and graphics add a sporty appeal to the car. Even the interior remains mostly unchanged, though all the features of the bigger Bolero are included in the Bolero Power+ compact SUV as well.
The sub 4 metre SUV gets dual tone interiors. In terms of technology, it is equipped with an all digital instrument cluster, Driver Information System and a voice messaging system. When it comes to the power-train, this car gets a completely new mHawkD70 engine. The diesel unit churns out 70bhp of peak power at 3600 rpm and 195 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox which sends power to the rear wheels. It is expected to be amongst 5% more fuel efficient than the existing Bolero. Likely to be priced within Rs. 6-8 lakhs, this car will compete directly against the TUV300.
