Renault Captur- How it Stands Against the Competition in its Segment?

Renault has been developing some brilliant four wheelers for the Indian consumers. For the last few years, the sales of Renault has also gone up, thanks to their value for money vehicles they are providing the customers.

Renault Captur

Recently, Renault has launched their brand new vehicle the Renault Captur which has been on sale from a price of Rs. 9.99 lakhs in the Indian market. The Renault Captur has been launched to give a stiff competition to the Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass as well.

Have a look at the different reasons because of which the Renault Captur stands out against the competition in the same segment it has been placed.

Exteriors and Interiors

From the outside, the Renault Captur has been an absolutely new look. It does not look like the Renault Duster in any way, as many people thought it would look like. The Indian variant Renault Captur looks like the European variant of the Captur. In the front you will see graceful lines which really stands out.

The Captur’s short bonnet looks muscular and drops down into the elegant headlight cluster and the LED daytime lamps have also been included. The LED ambient lights have also been included in the interiors as well. Renault has also announced that it will allow the users to customize the interiors according to their preferences to make it more personalised.

In the interiors, Renault has done a brilliant job. There is enough leg space for the passengers in both the front and back and everyone can sit comfortably without having to adjust frequently. So the passengers can expect the pretty decent and comfortable ride even for long hours.

Safety kit includes 4 airbags, ESP, ABS + EBD, BA, hill start assist, ISOFIX and more. This is a brilliant addition considering that Indians are now conscious about safety.

The 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been integrated with both Android AutoPlay and Apple CarPlay. The AC vents have been shaped well. The instrument cluster has been given a butterfly shape which looks nice and premium. The seats and the dashboard have received a dual tone finish which looks eccentric and very attractive.

Engine and Performance

The Renault Captur has been integrated with the 1.5-litre H4K petrol engine and has attached it to a five-speed manual transmission and also a 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine with a six-speed manual transmission. Both the engine can perform decently in an urban and off-road environment.

However, it is more of an urban ride than an off-road vehicle, unlike the Jeep Compass which has excellent off-road performance. The engine in the Renault Captur is decent and produces enough power to ride through the city streets. But a bit of turbo lag can be experienced at the initial start but once again speed, the engine feels smooth and refined.

Final Verdict

Renault has certainly made an impact with the launching of the Renault Captur in the mid-size SUV segment. The Renault Captur is obviously interesting vehicle with all the important features which an Indian Consumer would want. It has nice and premium interiors with the sharp-looking designed body. So it surely stands out from the other competitors in the segment in some way or the other based on the preferences of the consumer.
