When it comes to the battle between the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Nissan Sunny, it is a crucial one since the Ciaz currently outsells the Sunny by a huge margin in the country even though the Sunny is no less when it comes to features, aesthetic appeal, interior space and overall performance. However, being a Maruti product, the Ciaz has an advantage over its rival and is on course to be as successful as the SX4, its predecessor.

Nissan Sunny

The Ciaz is the longest car in this segment with 4490 mm as compared to 4425 mm which is the length of the Nissan Sunny. The Ciaz also has the best width of 1730 mm as compared to the 1695 mm of the Nissan Sunny. However, the Sunny’s height of 1505 mm is the best in class as compared to 1485 mm for the Ciaz. The wheelbase on the Ciaz is best in class at 2650 mm while the Sunny has a wheelbase of 2600 mm. This clearly means that the Ciaz is bigger, roomier and more spacious as compared to the Sunny with greater legroom for rear seat occupants. With regard to fuel economy, the Ciaz is the best in the segment and is way ahead of the Sunny. Taking the diesel model into account, the Ciaz diesel offers 26.21 kilometres per litre as compared to only 22.71 kilometres per litre for the Sunny. In addition, the Ciaz has an SVHS model which is environment friendly and there is no such option for the Sunny. This model is now competitively priced and offers another viable option to buyers. The Ciaz also has the best in class boot space of 510 litres as compared to 490 litres offered by the Sunny. All top end models of the Sunny and Ciaz get features like tilt-adjustable steering, audio system with Bluetooth, aux-in and USB, steering mounted controls for telephony and audio, height adjustable driver’s seat, climate control, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, alloy wheels and turn indicators on the mirrors.

The Sunny gets almost every feature but misses out on the projector headlamps, rear air conditioning vents and height adjustable seatbelts. However, there are two option packs available which include leather upholstery and even side airbags. Both sedans miss out on touch screen infotainment systems.

All in all, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is the clear winner as compared to the Nissan Sunny and is cheaper too.
