Mahindra & Mahindra has added a new variant to its long-running Scorpio SUV with the new S9 variant.
Mahindra Scorpio S9
Priced at Rs. 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Mahindra Scorpio S9 trim sits below the S11 trim in the line-up. It is interesting to note that the Scorpio S9 variant was originally available when the current generation of the SUV was introduced in 2014 and is now being re-introduced.
According to the company officials, the new variant, which promises a host of features and creature comfort, will be available in dealerships all over India. The S11 trim is about Rs. 1.4 lakh costlier than the S9 trim. On the other hand, the S9 trim is about Rs. 60,000 more expensive than the S7 trim.

As officially stated by Veejay Ram Nakra, Mahindra-Chief of Sales and Marketing- Automotive Division, the Indian automobile market was deeply impacted by the Scorpio, which continues to be a formidable contributor of the SUV segment.
He also adds that the new Scorpio S9 promises a superbly impressive feature package at a lucrative price point which makes it a desirable choice for car-lovers looking for a true-blue SUV, and simultaneously it also retains Scorpio’s core DNA of power, driving thrill and adventure.

Automobile enthusiasts can also expect static bender projector headlamps, LED light guides, ORVMs with turn indicators, fog lamps, hydraulic assisted bonnet, and cushion suspension with anti-roll technology.
The SUV is also equipped with auto climate control, 5.9 inch touch-screen infotainment system with navigation. However, you will have to give a miss to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Additionally, there are other features on offer such as voice assist system, steering mounted audio controls, Intellipark, dual front airbags with ABS, anti-theft warning, panic brake indication, engine immobiliser, besides others.
The SUV continues to be offered in the seven-seater avatar with front facing the third row, which makes it an attractive choice in this space. Under the hood, this offering comes with the same 2.2 litre mHawk diesel engine which churns out 140bhp and 320Nm of peak torque.
The powertrain is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The SUV is likely to rival the likes of the Tata Safari Storme, Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and also the upcoming Tata Harrier. Mahindra is also due to launch its flagship Alturas SUV in late-November which will be followed by the launch of the S201 compact SUV in 2019.
