The exterior design and features

The Hyundai Santro is actually a blend of the conventional hatchback and the original design called the tall-boy. The body has got some well=-placed accent lines. They go pretty well with the overall design and the profile of the car. The new Santro would be a lot curvier than the predecessor.

The car would be accompanied with the set of halogen headlamps. Hyundai would not be offering the LED daytime running lamp and the projector setup as of yet.

The car would feature 14-inch wheels with covers though there would not be any alloy wheels. No official picture of the car is yet available. Though it does not look absolutely fabulous, it would go well with the Indian audiences.

The interior design and features

One of the best features about the car would most definitely be a large amount of cabin space offered with it. The cabin is built well and offers a lot of features. The leg space is the best in the segment and the same goes with the headroom. There would not be a fold-down handrest but there would be rear AC vents for sure. The Santro would have beige and black vinyl seats.

Both the Sportz and the Asta model of the Santro would get the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment setup. The setup would support the Apple CarPlay as well as the Android Auto. Inbuilt navigation, mirror link and Bluetooth would be supported. All these would make the car overly popular with the Indian audience.

The engine and powertrain

The car would be equipped with the Epsilon 1.1-litre engine that would offer 68 bhp of power and a torque output of 99 Nm. The engine has a 4-cylinder motor that would meet the upcoming Bharat Stage 6 regulations that are set to kick in around 2020.

The petrol engine would offer a mileage of about 20.3 kmpl. The Santro would also get a CNG option with an 8 kg capacity tank. The CNG engine would offer 58 bhp of power and the same torque output of 99 Nm.

The engine would be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission as the standard option. An optional 5-speed AMT gearbox would also be available. Hyundai also has an AMT unit developed in-house, which would be offered as an option. The AMT gearbox lags a little but both of them work well in the mid-range driving scenarios.
