New Honda City expected in 2017
The much-awaited sedan from Honda the new Honda City facelift, will arrive to India in January 2017. Codenamed 2GC, this face-lifted version will be rivaled by the 2017 Ciaz facelift and the new generation Hyundai Verna. For the upcoming model, the Japanese car makers have endowed the Honda City with comprehensive cosmetic upgrades along with certain mechanical changes. If speculations are to be believed, the design of the face-lifted model will be adopted from the Honda Greiz that was unveiled in October 2015 in China. The saloon, however, will retain Honda’s ‘Exciting H Design’ philosophy and a bunch of design features from the current model. Amongst the exterior updates, you can expect a bolder chromed grille, new front and rear bumpers, larger projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, sheet metal contours, additional side creases, Civic inspired wrap-around tail-lamps, and revised boot lid.
New Honda City Facelift
Coming to the interiors, the new City facelift will wear a familiar look as its design and features will be borrowed from the current model. It claims to be one of the most feature-rich cars in its league with 8 speaker audio system with CD player, Aux-in and Bluetooth support, climate control system and multiple other features. It boasts of updated trims and upholstery, though the overall design of the dashboard will hardly witness any changes. The touch-screen AVN system offered on the top end VX (O) variant will be upgraded to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as revealed by reports.
Under the hood, this facelift version will continue to feature the existing 1.5 litre, 4 cylinder i-DTEC diesel and 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol engines. The diesel mill delivers a peak power of 99bhp at 3600 rpm against 200Nm at 1750 rpm, while the petrol mill delivers 117bhp at 660rpm and 145 Nm at 4600 rpm. Its transmission options, too, will remain unchanged, i.e. 5-speed manual and CVT. Having said that, Honda might tweak the diesel power mill for achieving higher mileage figures.

With the current generation Honda City losing its battle against the Maruti Ciaz, it had to fight back. Looks like it is all set to revive its glory with the face-lifted version, and how! This upcoming model with its host of interior and exterior changes has already sparked enthusiasm and anticipation amongst car-lovers. It will also offer a higher fuel mileage than the current model. For the petrol model, it will deliver a mileage of upto 17 kmpl, whereas the diesel model will ensure a mileage of upto 26 kmpl. The addition of a 6 speed gearbox on the petrol model will work in favour of higher fuel mileage. Earlier the new Honda City was rumoured to be launched around this year’s festive season, but now it is scheduled to take place in 2017. Its prices will fall within the price range of Rs. 8.5-13 lakhs, which is slightly higher than the current prices. This revised version of Honda City is expected to climb back t the top of the sales charts, which are currently being dominated by the well-priced Maruti Ciaz.
