New Skoda Octavia Expected in 2017
The Skoda Octavia has always been a hugely popular D segment sedan. However, the Altis and the Elantra slightly cheaper competition, have been giving it a tough time to maintain its sales figures. However, the Czech automaker has just unveiled images and details of the new Skoda Octavia 2017 facelift, and with it, the car is all geared up to win back its limelight. The first new Skoda to be launched next year will be the Kodiaq SUV. It is likely to be followed by the Octavia RS, Rapid Monte Carlo and the new look Octavia. The Octavia was never the least priced car in its segment. On the contrary, it commands a significant investment over its premium rivals. With the introduction of new features, it is sure to be an even more expensive car, and the base model is expected to be priced around Rs. 17 lakhs. The facelift incorporates several changes on the outside, but majorly remains unaltered with the mechanics. It comes with new quad-shaped LED headlamps, LED DRLs, updated bumpers, new design alloy wheels and refreshed taillights. On the inside too, you get many new offerings which are sure to impress you.
New Skoda Octavia
It will be powered by the existing engines- petrol engine options include 1.4 litre TSI and 1.8 litre TSI engines. The Diesel engine on offer is a 2.0 litre TDI motor. The 1.4 litre Petrol engine outputs 148 BHP-250Nm. The 1.8 litre engine produces 177BHP and 250Nm. The diesel engine churns out 141bhp and 320Nm. Transmission options include 6 speed automatic and manual gearboxes for the Diesel model. While the 1.4 Petrol gets a 6-speed manual, and the 1.8 Petrol is equipped with a 7-speed automatic unit. The latter also benefits from a multi link rear suspension. The 1.4 Petrol model claims to have a fuel mileage of 16.8 kmpl, while the 1.8 Petrol returns 14.7 kmpl. On the other hand, the 2.0 Diesel model offers 19.3 kmpl of mileage.

Coming to the exterior, the Octavia facelift version gets a more premium look, courtesy the all-new nose, twin pod headlights that boast LED fixtures, a radiator grille, the front bumper and LED Daytime Running Lamps. Though the side profile remains largely unchanged, the new design alloy wheels infuse some freshness. The face-lifted Octavia also gets a set of new taillights and a rear new bumper. Talking about the interiors, it has got even better! You can expect a Columbus infotainment system with a 9.2 inch touch-screen. For India, however, Skoda could continue with the Bolero unit. The new Octavia’s centre console comes with capacitive-touch buttons that further boost the functionality. Amongst the other new features, it promises an ambient lighting package, picnic tables for rear passengers, custom key settings, and heated leather steering wheel. The interior of the Octavia was always loved for its spaciousness and rich materials, and now with the updated features, it is sure to win much more appreciation.
