Maruti Suzuki hits Lakh Sales Mark with SHVS Cars
Maruti Suzuki launched its first SHVS cars in October 2014 and since then there has been no stopping them and within nearly 2 year the sales for this diesel hybrid car has crossed the lakh mark going past some of its top competitors like Honda. The Ciaz and Ertiga models developed by this Indo-Japanese carmaker were first incorporated with this technology and brought out in the Indian market and the cumulative sale in the domestic market reached a total of 1, 00,272 units by June 2016 as announced by MSI Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, R S Kalsi. Not only in the Indian market but these were exported all over the world such as Africa, Middle East, South America, Central America etc with the total number of export units crossing the 18,000 mark within the 1st two years itself.
SHVS stands for Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki that incorporates an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) which helps in power regeneration and confers the engine power assistance with the help of a motor. For a layman it may just seem like a jargon, so to put it in simpler words this technology provides you with the following up gradation that edges it past the rest in the world of automobiles:
• ISG technology– It helps in acceleration of the vehicle with electricity powered by the high capacity battery provided which makes it a better alternative to the conventional alternator and Exide sourced battery.
• Idle Start/Stop– This feature the automatic turn off of the engine when the vehicles comes to a halt thereby allowing lower fuel consumption.
• Fuel Efficient– Cars with the mild SHVS technology are powered by a 1.3 litre DDiS 200 diesel engine that claim to give a mileage of above 28.09 km/l at a maximum power of 88.5 bhp and 200 Nm torque making it a highly fuel efficient in India.
It also promises to reduce the harmful carbon emission by cars thereby making it a more eco-friendly option.
What made these cars an even more attractive option for car lovers is its highly affordable price range. It is priced at Rs 8.2 lakh for the base variety with the prices reaching up to Rs 10.17 lakh for the high end variety. This makes the new age car model to stand at a cost lesser than the rest of the diesel cars in the market ranging from Rs 8.9 lakh to Rs 10.3 lakh. No points for guessing hence as to the surge in popularity of these cars compared to its competitors like the Honda City.
Maruti Suzuki has now decided to implement the SHVS technology to a number of either other car models namely the Dzire and the Swift. The Ciaz Hybrid, new Ertiga facelift, Swift Hybrid and Dzire Hybrid is scheduled to be launched back to back in the Indian market this year.
So all you car lovers out there buckle up your seat belts because it promises to be quite a joyous ride for you all in the coming days.
