The Honda City and the Hyundai Verna had been strong rivals since the two came into the market. Let us look at the two cars and see how they perform against each other.

External Design and Features
You have a premium look for the Honda City, though it does not quite have the sheen. The City gets the signature chrome grille in the front. It also has a stylish headlamp design with the LED daytime running lamps.
A sporty bumper is also featured by the car. A prominent crease running across the doors and integrated with the tail light cluster marks the side profile of the sedan. At the rear, the City gets a chrome strip across the boot lid and the LED tail lights and bumper also sports reflectors on either side. The car gets 16-inch alloy wheels.
The Hyundai Verna features aggressive designs. All of this begins with the signature cascading grille in the front. The sweptback headlamp design with the LED DRLs and the projector headlamps gives the car a sporty look.
The muscular front bumper sports the fog lamps with a chrome lining, completing the face of the car. The car features 16-inch alloy wheels. A stylish LED tail lamp cluster is featured on the rear. There is also a sporty bumper with plastic cladding and a shark-fin antenna.
Interior Design and Features
The Honda City gets all the features you would expect today like the automatic climate control, the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the start/stop engine button, the rear AC vents, the tilt steering, the electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs and premium leather treatment.
The Hyundai Verna also gets the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather and there is a dual-tone interior theme. Other features include the height adjustable driver’s seat, the wheel and gear knobs, the start-stop button, the cooled glovebox, the ORVM with integrated turn indicators and the tilt steering.
Engine and mileage
A 1.5-litre diesel and petrol engine powers the Honda City. The petrol engine offers a maximum power output of 117 bhp and a peak torque output of 145 Nm. The diesel engine produces 98 bhp of maximum power and 200 Nm of torque.
While the diesel engine gets a 6-speed manual gearbox, the petrol variant gets the CVT gearbox and a 5-speed manual transmission. The petrol model delivers a mileage of 17.4 kmpl for the manual and 18 kmpl for the CVT variant. The diesel engine is quite fuel efficient and offers a mileage of 26.6 kmpl.
There are 3 engine options on the Hyundai Verna – the 1.6-litre diesel engine, the 1.4-litre petrol and the 1.6-litre petrol engine. The 1.4-litre engine offers the maximum power of 98.6 bhp and a peak torque of 132 Nm, is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The 1.6-litre petrol engine offers 121 bhp and a peak torque of 151 Nm. The diesel engine would offer 126 bhp and 259 Nm of torque. You can have automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.4-litre petrol engine offers a mileage of 19 kmpl, the 1.6-litre petrol engine offers 17.7 kmpl, while the diesel engine offers 24.75 kmpl.
The Honda City has created a brand for itself through the host of features, while Verna’s upsides are the styling and engine options.
