Honda Accord to Launch Soon in Indian Market
Honda Cars India showcased the 9th generation Accord during the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo and is all set to make its launch in India on 25th October 2016. Prior to its launch, Honda dealers have started accepting pre-orders for the sedan at a token amount of Rs. 51,000. The car has generated a wave of excitement in the market since it is a popular model which was discontinued in 2013 owing to lowering demands. Currently in its ninth generation, this luxury sedan However, the good news is that the model is back and the biggest attraction for the car this time, apart from the very NSX-y headlamps, is the hybrid technology that will let you enjoy exceptional fuel economy. The new model is already on sale in several global markets.
The Honda Accord will be powered by a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder petrol unit coupled with a 1.3Kw Lithium ion battery. While the petrol unit is capable of producing 141 bhp, the electric motor will generate an additional 75 bhp. The driver can experience the delight of three driving modes- EV Drive, Hybrid Drive, and Engine Drive. It will derive some of its design elements from its pre-facelift model, which was put up on display at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. It has a stunning fascia, courtesy its larger chrome grille, new LED detailing on the headlight enclosures, LED fog lamps, revised bumper and lighter all-aluminum hood. The chrome highlights on boot-lid and bumper further enhance its premium appeal. What’s more, you also get an integrated spoiler, re-designed rear bumper and LED tail lamps. It comes equipped with the conventional McPherson strut that makes it 24 kgs lighter than before.
Talking about interiors, the new Accord is based on Man Maximum, Machine Minimum philosophy. Consequently, it claims to be more spacious for both front and rear occupants. The sedan has 7 inch Advance touch-screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 7.7 intelligent Multi-Information display, power adjustable front seats with memory function for driver’s seat, leather upholstery in ivory colour along with wood grain accents, rain sensing wipers, i-Dual Zone automatic climate control with plasma cluster, etc. For passengers’ safety and security, the new Accord has ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), with BA (Brake Assist), VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist), HSA, 6 airbags, reverse camera and reverse parking sensors, Honda Lane Watch and ISOFIX mounting points.
In all likelihood, the new Honda Accord 2016 will be more expensive than the standard model. It is slated to go on sale near this Diwali. Since it will be brought to India as CBU unit, it will be pricier than Toyota Camry, its closest rival. This premium saloon is expected to come within the price range of Rs. 22 lakh- Rs. 30 lakh. It might excite you to know that the new model will come in four exterior paint jobs – Lunar Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, White Orchid Pearl, and Modern Steel Metallic. It will rival the Toyota Camry, Skoda Superb, Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata and Volkswagen Passat.
