October 2019 was a relatively better month for Indian automakers after the prolonged slump in sales volumes in previous months. Owing to the auspicious occasion of Diwali, more people bought vehicles in October and this is reflected in decent sales volumes for most Indian carmakers.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire was the highest selling model last month, notching up 19,569 units in sales figures while the Maruti Swift took the second position with 19,401 units in sales volumes. The Maruti Suzuki Alto and Maruti Suzuki Baleno occupied the third and fourth slots with sales volumes of 17,903 units and 16,237 units respectively.
The Hyundai Elite i20 took the fifth slot with sales volumes of 14,683 units while the Maruti Suzuki WagonR sold 14,359 units in all. The Kia Seltos notched up sales figures of 12,854 units while the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso notched up sales volumes of 10,634 units. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza occupied the 9th position with 10,227 units in sales figures and the Maruti Suzuki Eeco sold 10,011 units to take the 10th slot.
Maruti Suzuki continued to dominate the list of top 10 highest selling Indian cars for October 2019 with 8 models in the list. The Dzire, Swift, Alto and Baleno have continued to be the top-selling models in the country although overall sales volumes in the industry are lower than the same period last year as per several reports.
Hyundai now has only one model in the list and its Creta missed the list along with the Grand i10. Kia Motors came into the list for the first time with the Seltos, its first product, which launched sometime earlier. The S-Presso has also notched up handsome sales volumes in its first full month of sales figures. This makes it the highest selling car in its segment, outstripping the popular Renault Kwid.
